12 % pea protein crispies and 5 % cocoa nibs give it bite, on top of an 11 % caramel-flavour layer and a 23 % dark chocolate coating.

8.2 g of fibre and 0.7 g of sugar per bar. Maltitol does most of the sweetening, with a touch of sucralose, and there is no palm oil.

Pea protein isolate, hemp protein and the pea crispies take the protein content to 25 g per 100 g. Cocoa nibs, which are crushed cocoa beans, add a slightly bitter chocolate note and extra crunch. One bar contains 8 g of polyols, mostly maltitol, so the wrapper notes that eating too much may have a laxative effect.
Chocolate Caramel Crisp is the original VHEY® bar from nutri+, the plant-based brand of Nutrition-Plus GmbH in Grafschaft. It won the PETA Vegan Award Food 2025. An independent lab, GBA Group in Hameln, tested it for microbes, yeasts and moulds as well as lead, cadmium, mercury and arsenic, and found nothing to object to microbiologically.

Does it contain peanuts?+
No. Unlike the Peanut Caramel bar, this one gets its crunch from pea crispies and cocoa nibs. It also has 2 g more protein per bar, from pea and hemp rather than pea and rice.

What did the lab test for?+
In October 2024, GBA Group in Hameln tested a sample for total viable count, yeasts, moulds, E. coli, salmonella and other microbes, plus lead, cadmium, mercury and arsenic. Microbiologically, the sample gave no cause for objection.

Is it gluten-free and soy-free?+
The recipe has no gluten cereals and no soy, and nutri+ describes the bar as gluten-free and soy-free. It is vegan and lactose-free too.

Why the laxative note on the wrapper?+
Maltitol is a sugar alcohol. Food law requires this note once polyols exceed 10 % of a product. One bar contains 8 g.
