Filter and ionise your tap water in one pass, with no plug and no plumbing
The Sanuslife ECAIA carafe S runs your water through activated carbon and mineral ceramics, and you decide how strongly it is ionised. Two main filters come in the box, good for around 600 litres between them.
Anyone who has moved house knows that tap water is not all the same. One town delivers soft water, the next is full of limescale, and the office tap tastes different again. A filter with one fixed setting will give very different results depending on what goes in.
The carafe S is built in two parts: an upper container with handle, lid and cartridge, and a tank below that catches the water. Because you set the flow yourself and can add a booster filter, it adapts to soft and hard water alike. Sanuslife gives a redox value of roughly −50 to −300 mV, compared with about +250 mV for tap water.
It is the latest generation of ECAIA jugs from Sanuslife International in Bolzano, South Tyrol. The company develops its own filter technology and uses the same carbon-and-ceramic principle in its larger countertop ionisers.
Before first use, submerge the main filter completely in water for one minute and give it a short shake. Press it into the upper container from above until it sits firmly. Let the first fills run through and pour them away until the water runs clear. Set the flow with the ceramic valve. Replace the main filter after 60 days or 300 litres at the latest and set the date in the filter indicator again. Use the enclosed filter hook to lift the cartridge out.

Main filter or booster filter: which does what?
The main filter S is the core cartridge and always in use. It filters and ionises in one go: carbon for the contaminants, ceramics for the pH. Each one lasts 60 days or 300 litres.
The booster filter S is an optional add-on containing ceramics only, with no filtering of its own. It screws clockwise onto the underside of the main filter. You need it when the main filter alone does not bring your water into the pH 8.0 to 9.5 range, which happens with hard, mineral-rich water. For hygiene reasons, replace it together with the main filter.
⚠️ Notes: For cold drinking water only. Keep away from heat and direct sunlight. On warm days, store the upper container with the filter in the fridge. Only prepare as much water as you intend to drink straight away.
📦 Cleaning: Not dishwasher-safe. Wash by hand in warm water, with a mild washing-up liquid if needed; avoid abrasive sponges. Remove limescale with citric acid.
