The scent that smells like a celebration
Indigo Styrax Calamitus is a balsamic resin from the Oriental sweetgum tree. It smells sweet, light and floral, with hints of vanilla and cinnamon.

The liquid amber of the Orient
The resin comes from the Oriental sweetgum (Liquidambar orientalis). Its colour earned it the name “liquid amber of the Orient”.

Little smoke, plenty of scent
Styrax produces very little smoke when burned, which makes it pleasant in living spaces.
Cinnamon, vanilla and a hint of blossom: in German-speaking countries styrax is the classic scent of Christmas and festive days, and other cultures also know it as a “festive scent”.
Indigo describes styrax as balsamic, brightening and cheerful. It was once used for oracle ceremonies. Today many people like it because it fills the whole room with very little smoke.
Styrax is part of many Indigo blends, such as Kyphi, Origin and Forehead Chakra. Burned on its own it shows its soft, sweet side best. Indigo fills it in 25 g jars.
📋 How to use
Hold the incense charcoal with tongs over a flame to light it and place it on shell sand in a fireproof vessel. Let it glow for about 15 minutes until it is covered with white ash. Then add one or two small pieces of styrax with an incense spoon. Enjoy the scent as if smelling a flower, do not inhale it. If it starts to smell burnt, lift the remains off with the spoon and smother them in the sand.
