Indigo makes all of its incense by hand, following traditional and mostly its own recipes. The galangal in Guardian Angel comes from certified organic cultivation.
Sometimes you simply wish someone would say: “It’ll be fine, everything will be all right.” That is exactly the feeling Indigo describes for Guardian Angel. As if a good friend were gently taking you in their arms.
The blend is meant for those moments when you would like a loving helper at your side. You burn it like a fragrant invitation to become still and listen to the loving voice in your heart. Whether you believe in it or simply enjoy it as a scent ritual is entirely up to you.
Indigo Enterprises has been blending in its own scent workshop at the Indigo House in Vienna since 1991, with more than 30 years of experience in burning incense on charcoal. Herbs and flowers come mostly from certified organic cultivation, the resins from wild collection.
📋 How to use
Hold the incense charcoal with tongs over a flame to light it and place it on shell sand in a fireproof vessel. Let it glow for about 15 minutes until it is covered with white ash. Then add 1 to 2 pinches with an incense spoon. Enjoy the scent as if smelling a flower, do not inhale it. If it starts to smell burnt, lift the remains off with the spoon and smother them in the sand.

What actually is a guardian angel?
Indigo equates the guardian angel with what many people call their inner voice, intuition or clear conscience. Everyone knows sayings like “I had a hunch” or “I should have trusted my first thought”. For many, this voice is also the way to their own true self. Guardian Angel is meant as a scent that lets you give it room on purpose.

How does Guardian Angel compare with pure frankincense?+
It is noticeably sweeter and softer. Pure frankincense smells resinous and clear. In Guardian Angel it stays behind the benzoin and styrax and only gives the scent its depth.

Charcoal or incense warmer: which works better?+
Indigo recommends incense charcoal, because the blend unfolds most fully there. On a warmer with a sieve it releases its scent more slowly and hardly smokes, so the fragrance stays gentler.

Can I burn incense with children in the house?+
Yes, with a little care. Place the vessel out of reach, never leave the embers alone and air the room afterwards. With its sweet scent, Guardian Angel is one of the blends children particularly like.

Why does the blend sometimes look a little different?+
Because it is blended by hand from purely natural raw materials. Depending on the harvest, appearance and scent nuances vary slightly. Indigo then carefully adjusts the recipe so that Guardian Angel keeps its character.

Is Guardian Angel suitable for the Raunächte?+
In Austria and Bavaria, many people burn incense every evening between Christmas and Epiphany, the so-called Raunächte. Guardian Angel is a good choice if you are looking for a mild, sweet scent rather than strong herbs.
