Oil from a microalga

Schizochytrium supplies the fatty acids directly, without the detour via fish.

Fish do not make EPA and DHA themselves; they get them from algae. Algal oil therefore goes straight to the source and is the obvious choice for anyone who is vegan or would rather not take fish oil.

Two capsules contain 1000 mg oil from the microalga Schizochytrium with 650 mg omega-3 fatty acids, of which 400 mg DHA and 200 mg EPA. Rosemary extract and natural vitamin E protect the oil; 1.8 mg vitamin E equal 15% of the reference intake. Vitamin E contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.

Espara openly points out that a slightly “fishy” smell can occur when you open the tub. Algal oil smells like that too, and small amounts of oil on the capsule shell cannot be completely avoided in production.

Why do the capsules sometimes stick together?

During production, tiny amounts of algal oil can stay on the outside of the capsules. As a result they sometimes stick together a little and the tub smells slightly of the sea when opened. The contents are not affected.
