Alchemical herbal essence following Paracelsus – six plant distillates in 30 ml
The Espara Anti-Pollen Alchemical Essence combines six carefully selected plant distillates in a 30 ml amber glass dropper bottle.
Made in Germany following a special method derived from Paracelsus, distributed by Espara from Salzburg – vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free.
The roots: Paracelsus and plant alchemy
Theophrastus Bombastus von Hohenheim, better known as Paracelsus (1493–1541), worked as a physician, natural philosopher and lay theologian in Salzburg – the very city where Espara keeps its headquarters today and where the philosophy behind these alchemical essences is cultivated. He held the belief that every plant carries not only a material substance but also a spiritual signature. Alchemical distillation, he argued, was the path to release a plant's inner essence from its material shell.
The Anti-Pollen Essence follows this approach: six plant distillates – stinging nettle, American spikenard, Ma Huang, balloon vine, ground ivy and lobelia – pass through multiple separation and reunification stages before being combined into the final herbal essence in 16 % vol. alcohol. The result is a highly concentrated distillate, taken by the drop. Further background on the method is available in our guide Production and use of essences.
The chosen plants carry evocative names from diverse botanical traditions: American spikenard (Aralia racemosa) originates from North American herbalism, balloon vine (Cardiospermum halicacabum) is at home in tropical botany, ground ivy (Glechoma hederacea) belongs to the native European wild herbs and stinging nettle (Urtica dioica) is arguably the best-known plant of European herbal tradition. The essence itself is produced at a specialist facility in Germany; distribution and quality responsibility rest with Espara in Salzburg.
Other Espara products in our range follow the same natural-product philosophy – for example the Espara Organic Black Cumin Oil 100 ml as a cold-pressed oil, or the Espara Organic Black Cumin Oil (70 caps) for a taste-neutral intake.

What exactly is an alchemical essence?
Alchemical essences are produced across several process stages: extraction from the starting material, distillation of the volatile compounds and finally a reunification step called "Coniunctio". The result is a liquid concentrate with a distinctive aroma and a delicate plant-based profile. Further details are available in our essence guide.
Why amber glass with a dropper insert?
Amber glass filters out a substantial share of visible light – an advantage for plant distillates, since light exposure can alter delicate aroma compounds over time. The dropper insert allows precise dosing of the recommended daily amount, with no liquid loss.
