What does 6 × 10⁹ CFU mean – and how do you count bacteria?
CFU stands for colony-forming units. In the lab, a sample is spread on a nutrient medium – every viable bacterial cell grows into a visible colony that can be counted. The figure therefore describes not mere weight, but the number of cultures capable of multiplying. 6 × 10⁹ equals six billion such units per daily dose.

Do the bacterial cultures survive stomach acid?+
That is exactly why this capsule shell was chosen: the licensed DRcaps® technology dissolves more slowly than a standard cellulose capsule. The contents stay enclosed for longer on their way through the stomach. This is a technical property of the capsule – no authorised health claim is attached to it.

How does Microbiome 13 differ from yoghurt and sauerkraut?+
Fermented foods contain bacterial cultures in varying types and amounts – depending on recipe, batch and storage time. The capsule, by contrast, holds a defined selection of strains in a declared quantity. The two are not mutually exclusive: if you enjoy fermented foods, the capsules simply complement them.

What if I find capsules hard to swallow?+
The capsules are meant to be swallowed whole. Opening or chewing them is not a good idea – the shell deliberately releases its contents later, and that design would be lost. A large glass of water and an upright posture make swallowing noticeably easier.
