Question about item
Polyphenols from grape seeds — concentrated into a single capsule
Optiolex OPC Grape Seed Extract delivers 500 mg of standardised grape seed extract with 250 mg of OPC per capsule — combined with natural vitamin C from camu-camu. A brand from Austria.
Grapes are a fruit-bowl classic — and most people reach for seedless varieties. The interesting part sits exactly where the seeds would have been: inside those seeds the plant stores its protective compounds against UV light and microbes. Secondary plant compounds like oligomeric proanthocyanidins are among the most intensively researched polyphenols today.
In a standardised extract the OPC content is precisely calibrated — which makes the concentrate predictable from one batch to the next. "Oligomeric", by the way, simply means: made of two to four linked catechin units. That smaller molecule size sets OPC apart from the large polymeric tannins responsible for the astringency in red wine. Alongside the extract sit camu-camu, coconut milk extract and cassava root — plant-based co-ingredients that keep the label clean.
The history of OPC reaches back to 1948: French researcher Jacques Masquelier originally identified the compound class in the skins of peanuts. Grape seed extract has since become the standard source of oligomeric proanthocyanidins in food supplements — and the subject of a substantial body of scientific publications. The formula uses no colourings or preservatives, with corn starch as the bulking agent and a plant-based capsule shell.
Take 1 capsule daily with plenty of liquid.

What sets OPC apart from other polyphenols?
OPC is short for oligomeric proanthocyanidins — a subgroup of flavanols within the broader family of polyphenols. "Oligomeric" describes a chain length of roughly two to four catechin units. That distinguishes it from monomeric proanthocyanidins (MPC, single units) and polymeric proanthocyanidins (PPC, longer chains often classed as tannins). Grape seeds are among the most concentrated natural sources of this compound family.
Why camu-camu as the vitamin C source?
Camu-camu (Myrciaria dubia) is an Amazon-rainforest berry with one of the highest natural vitamin C densities of any fruit. Optiolex uses a camu-camu extract standardised to 25% vitamin C, rather than synthetic ascorbic acid. Each capsule therefore provides 12 mg of vitamin C — exactly 15% of the EU daily reference intake.
⚠️ Mandatory notices: Food supplements are not a substitute for a varied, balanced diet or a healthy lifestyle. Do not exceed the stated recommended daily intake. Keep out of reach of young children.

💬 Frequently asked questions
-
What's inside Optiolex OPC Grape Seed Extract?+Each capsule contains 500 mg of grape seed extract from Vitis vinifera, of which 250 mg are oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPC). Added to that is natural vitamin C from camu-camu — 12 mg, or 15% of the EU daily reference intake. Vitamin C contributes to the normal function of the immune system.
-
What does "50% OPC" in the extract mean?+"50% OPC" describes the standardisation level: half the mass of the grape seed extract is present as oligomeric proanthocyanidins. With 500 mg of extract per capsule that comes to 250 mg of OPC. Standardisation means the content is defined and consistent from batch to batch — not a random value left to the raw material.
-
When is the best time to take the capsule?+One capsule daily with plenty of liquid. Many people take it in the morning with their first meal; others prefer a light snack alongside, since stomach tolerance is individual. Do not exceed the recommended daily intake.
-
Is Optiolex OPC vegan and allergen-free?+Yes. All ingredients are plant-based — including the capsule shell, which is made from hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (plant cellulose). The product is gluten- and lactose-free and contains no colourings or preservatives.
-
Can OPC be combined with other supplements?+In principle yes — for example with a vitamin complex or mineral preparation. Keep an eye on your total intake of individual nutrients (especially vitamin C if you combine multiple sources) and never exceed the recommended daily dose of any product. If you take medication long-term or live with a chronic condition, check with your doctor first.
-
How long does a 60-capsule bottle last?+At the recommended intake of one capsule per day, a 60-capsule bottle lasts roughly two months. That makes it easy to plan the concentrate into a daily routine.
