How should the unopened jars be stored?
As long as the jars stay sealed, the capsules are well protected from moisture and light. Store sealed in a cool, dry place, protected from light — a cupboard in the living area is plenty. The best-before date is printed on the bottom of each jar; stored properly, quality stays stable well beyond that date.
What is the small sachet inside the bottle?
Some jars contain a small food-safe silica-gel sachet. It absorbs residual moisture and helps protect the capsules through the shelf life. When you open the jar, leave it inside — it isn't for eating. Once the jar is empty, discard it.
