Bitter herbs, cocoa, nettle: old acquaintances, read anew
This book is only available in German. There is no English edition. The English text on this page is a translation of our German product description.
According to the publisher, Volume 5 completes the Codex Humanus series, on 998 pages. Thomas Chrobok presents over 20 further natural substances, from moringa to urolithin A, and adds a substance overview that refers to the volume and page in the earlier volumes.
Some plants have been in the garden or kitchen cupboard for generations: nettle, linseed, cocoa. Others have only appeared in scientific articles in recent years, such as urolithin A or so-called postbiotics. Anyone who wants to think about both together needs a source that places tradition and newer research side by side.
Volume 5 follows the familiar structure. After the introduction, tables on 19 subject areas show which active substances the author assigns to which topic. New is an overview table that links each substance to its volume and page across the entire Codex. This is followed by the chapters on individual substances, a bonus chapter on collagen and three appendices on nutrients and lifestyle relating to DNA and mitochondria.
In his own words, Chrobok deliberately widens the view in this volume beyond purely natural substances to other approaches of alternative medicine. His tone remains critical, especially towards current developments in medicine. The publisher points out that many statements on effectiveness rely on studies that are not officially regarded as evidence-based. Read the book as a collection of knowledge and a contribution to the discussion, not as treatment instructions.

Can Volume 5 be read without the other volumes?
Yes, the publisher also sells it on its own, and each chapter on a natural substance stands by itself. The new overview table only shows its full value together with Volumes 1 to 4, however, because it refers to their pages. You will find the foundations on orthomolecular substances in Volume 1.
