What exactly is iron(II) gluconate?
It is a salt made from iron and gluconic acid, an organic acid. The "(II)" tells you the iron is in its divalent form, written Fe²⁺. Iron(II) gluconate is one of the iron sources permitted for food supplements under Directive 2002/46/EC. It dissolves well in liquid, which is why it is a common choice for drinkable products like this one.
