Description

A tree that outlived the ice ages — with leaves now packed into a single capsule

Ginkgo biloba has grown for more than 200 million years. Its leaves carry the valuable plant compounds — and that is exactly what Kräuterhaus Sanct Bernhard draws out through a special extract. 240 capsules, 75 mg of extract each, one a day.

🌿
75 mg special extract
Each capsule delivers 75 mg of ginkgo biloba extract at a 50:1 ratio — concentrated from roughly 3.75 g of leaf material.
💎
Standardised to two marker groups
18.4 mg flavone glycosides and 4.9 mg ginkgolide terpene lactones per capsule — fixed, traceable figures.
🇩🇪
Made in Germany
Produced at the German site, with every batch checked.
One capsule a day
240 capsules last around eight months — swallow one with a meal, done.

Some plants hold their interesting compounds in the root, others in the fruit. In ginkgo biloba they sit in the fan-shaped leaves — and at a concentration that varies from leaf to leaf. Dried leaf tea will only get you so far.

This is where the special extract comes in. Through a multi-stage process — using water and ethanol as the extraction solvents — the leaf compounds are bundled at a 50:1 ratio. The result is a standardised extract in which the two key compound groups, flavone glycosides and ginkgolide terpene lactones, are present in fixed amounts. That standardisation is the real difference from plain leaf powder.

Kräuterhaus Sanct Bernhard has worked with plant extracts since 1903 and makes the capsules in Germany. The company skips the middlemen and ships direct — a model that has become rare in this field.

What does the 50:1 extract ratio mean?

The ratio describes how strongly the leaves have been concentrated. At 50:1, one part of extract holds the compounds from 50 parts of dried leaf material. So for the 75 mg per capsule, around fifty times that amount of raw leaf is processed. That makes the extract far richer than plain leaf powder.

Why are flavone glycosides and terpene lactones listed separately?

These are the two compound groups by which the quality of a ginkgo extract is measured. Because both are stated in fixed amounts — 18.4 mg and 4.9 mg per capsule — the extract is standardised. You get the same content in every batch, not a fluctuating natural value.

💬 Frequently asked questions

  • When and how do I take the capsules?+
Swallow 1 capsule daily with a meal and plenty of liquid. A fixed time of day makes it easier not to forget.
  • Are the capsules easy to swallow?+
These are manageably sized capsules taken with a meal and liquid. If you tend to find capsules hard to swallow, take them with a full glass of water and your chin slightly lowered.
  • How long does one tub last?+
At one capsule a day, 240 capsules last around eight months. It is the larger of the two pack sizes offered, so the best value per capsule.
  • Are the capsules suitable for vegans?+
No. The capsule shell is made from gelatine, an animal-derived ingredient, so they are not suitable for a vegan diet.
  • Is there anything to note with blood-thinning medication?+
If you take blood-thinning medication (anticoagulants), seek medical advice before use.
  • Where does the product come from?+
The manufacturer is Kräuterhaus Sanct Bernhard in Bad Ditzenbach, Germany. The capsules are produced at the German site and checked batch by batch.
