Question about item
For the days when your body needs more iron than your plate delivers
Blutfit Iron Elixir brings iron(II) gluconate, vitamin C and four B vitamins together in one fruity liquid. One measuring cup a day – no alcohol, no lactose, entirely plant-based.
Anyone eating little or no meat knows the arithmetic: lentils, oats and spinach do carry iron, but in plant form – and the gut handles that differently from iron in animal sources. Then come the phases when the requirement climbs. Menstruation, pregnancy, breastfeeding, the growth years in children and teenagers. That is exactly when daily intake turns into a calculation nobody wants to redo every evening.
This is where the elixir comes in. It works with iron(II) gluconate, an organically bound iron salt that dissolves fully in liquid. Vitamin C sits in the same bottle rather than in a second jar – along with four B vitamins, thiamine among them. In everyday terms that means one step in the morning instead of three separate products to hunt down.
Behind the formula stands Kräuterhaus Sanct Bernhard, a family business in Bad Ditzenbach at the foot of the Swabian Alb that has been making natural remedies since 1903. Production takes place in Germany. The sweetness comes from agave syrup and fructose, the colour from beetroot powder – colourings do not appear on the ingredient list.
Drink once daily before a meal. Shake before use.

Why iron(II) gluconate?
Iron appears in food supplements in two valencies: divalent (Fe²⁺) and trivalent (Fe³⁺). The small intestine takes up the divalent form via the DMT1 transporter – trivalent iron has to be reduced first. Iron(II) gluconate is the salt of iron and gluconic acid, an organic acid, and belongs to the iron compounds authorised for food supplements under Directive 2002/46/EC. It dissolves well in liquid and stays restrained in taste, which is one reason it turns up so often in drinkable formulations.
What do 100 % NRV per measuring cup mean?
NRV stands for Nutrient Reference Value. These are the reference amounts for adults laid down in EU Regulation 1169/2011 – 14 mg per day for iron, 80 mg for vitamin C. One measuring cup therefore covers that reference figure once, two cups twice. The value is a labelling benchmark, not an individual requirement: actual needs depend on age, sex and life situation.
⚠️ Mandatory information: Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a balanced, varied diet and do not replace a healthy lifestyle. Keep out of the reach of young children. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.

💬 Frequently asked questions
-
What does the elixir taste like?+Fruity. The sweetness comes from agave syrup and fructose, with natural flavourings rounding out the taste. It is drunk neat from the measuring cup.
-
Is it suitable during pregnancy and breastfeeding?+Yes – pregnant and breastfeeding women are named explicitly in the intake recommendation: 1–2 measuring cups (20–40 ml) daily. Iron requirements rise during pregnancy and breastfeeding. If you already take other iron-containing preparations or are under medical care, discuss your intake with your doctor.
-
Can children drink it?+From 7 years, with an age-staggered amount: children aged 7–10 take half a measuring cup (10 ml), children and adolescents from 10 years a full cup (20 ml). The elixir is not intended for younger children. Keep out of the reach of young children.
-
Does it contain alcohol, lactose or gluten?+No. The elixir is alcohol-free, lactose-free and gluten-free as well as entirely vegetarian and vegan. That is not a given in the liquid iron tonic segment: many products there use alcohol as an extraction medium or preservative. Here, potassium sorbate does the preserving.
-
How long does one bottle last?+The bottle holds 1000 ml. At one measuring cup a day (20 ml) that is 50 servings, at two cups (40 ml) it is 25. So one bottle covers roughly one to almost two months, depending on the amount taken.
-
What influences iron absorption in everyday life?+Nutrition science describes it well: coffee, black and green tea carry polyphenols, dairy carries calcium, wholegrains and pulses carry phytates – all of which bind iron in the gut. Vitamin C works the other way, it increases iron absorption, and it is already in the bottle. None of this is meant as an additional instruction – the intake recommendation stands as it is.
