Question about item
What hair and skin need from the inside doesn't come out of a shampoo bottle
Vital Biotin delivers high-dose D-biotin in one small capsule, carried on flaxseed meal. One capsule a day, made in Germany by vitalundfitmit100.
A new shampoo, a serum, a treatment. Most people who look after their hair and skin work from the outside. Yet hair keratin and skin cells are built inside the body, from what ends up on the plate. Adults need around 40 micrograms of biotin a day. Oats, eggs, nuts and pulses supply it. If you eat irregularly or rely on convenience food, those sources rarely make it onto the table every day.
Biotin, also known as vitamin B7 or vitamin H, works in the body as a coenzyme. It sits on four enzymes (carboxylases) that build fatty acids, release glucose and break down amino acids. Without biotin, those enzymes stall. And because the body keeps no large reserves, regular intake counts, not a one-off. The capsule provides the vitamin as D-biotin, exactly the form those enzymes bind to.
Behind the product is a company from Jüchen near Düsseldorf that has been producing food supplements and superfoods for over 19 years and supplies more than 2,000 resellers across Europe. It ships in a resealable kraft-paper doypack.
Take 1 capsule daily, unchewed, with a glass of water (250 ml).

Why 10,000 micrograms when the daily requirement is 40?
The dose is 250 times the reference value. That is possible with biotin because it is water-soluble and the body excretes what it does not need in the urine. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has not set a tolerable upper intake level for biotin, as studies up into the milligram range showed no adverse effects. Germany's Federal Institute for Risk Assessment, on the other hand, recommends far lower amounts for food supplements. Anyone choosing a high-dose product should know the notice about laboratory tests and stay within the recommended intake.
What does biotin have to do with blood tests?
Many laboratory assays rely on the bond between biotin and the protein streptavidin to measure hormones or cardiac markers. If a lot of free biotin is circulating in the blood, it interferes with that measurement. Readings for thyroid hormones, vitamin D or troponin can then come out too high or too low even though the true value is normal. That is why the pack carries the notice to inform your doctor before a blood sample is taken. The lab can then choose a biotin-insensitive method or recommend a gap after your last capsule.
⚠️ Mandatory information: Do not exceed the stated recommended daily intake. Food supplements are not a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. Important information / notice: Biotin can cause false laboratory results. Please inform your doctor before a blood sample is taken.

💬 Frequently asked questions
-
Can I take biotin for hair and nails?+For hair and skin there are EU-authorised claims, listed in the tiles above. For nails, no claim is authorised for biotin, but there are claims for zinc and selenium. If you want to cover both, combine biotin with a zinc or selenium product. And patience is part of it: hair grows about one centimetre a month, so the metabolism works in weeks, not days.
-
Are the capsules vegan?+The ingredient list contains no animal-derived components: D-biotin, flaxseed meal and a shell made of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, a cellulose derivative. There is no gelatine. The manufacturer does not print a separate vegan label on the pack.
-
What is the difference between D-biotin and biotin?+Chemically, the biotin molecule can take several spatial arrangements. Only D-biotin is the form found in food and the one that the body's enzymes bind to. When a pack simply says "biotin", it still means D-biotin in the EU, because only this form is permitted in food supplements. Stating "D-biotin" just makes that explicit.
-
Why is there flaxseed meal in the capsule?+Ten milligrams of biotin is a speck of dust. To dose that amount accurately and fill it into a capsule, a carrier is needed. Many manufacturers use cellulose, rice flour or maltodextrin. Here, ground flaxseed does the job, which also gives the capsule its brownish colour. Flaxseed is not one of the 14 allergens that require labelling.
-
How big is the capsule, and can I open it?+The capsule is small and light and goes down easily with a sip of water. The recommended intake is to swallow it unchewed. If swallowing is difficult, biotin is also available as drops or lozenges.
-
Why such a large pack?+Biotin is needed daily and not stored, so one pack accompanies you over a longer period. The doypack reseals and protects the contents from light and moisture as long as it is kept cool and dry.
