Question about item
Probiotics add bacteria to the gut. What about the lining they settle on?
Paracel Mucosa Komplex takes a different route from bacteria-based products: two capsules supply phosphatidylcholine, the plant-derived chondroitin equivalent Phytodroitin®, spirulina and chamomile, together with zinc, vitamin C, biotin and vitamin B12. Biotin contributes to the maintenance of normal mucous membranes.
Ask anyone who has looked into gut health what they take, and the answer is usually a probiotic. Fair enough: the bacteria get all the attention. The surface they colonise gets far less, even though it is one of the hardest-working tissues in the body. The cells of the intestinal lining are replaced every few days, and the mucus layer above them is rebuilt continuously. All of that turnover needs raw material: phospholipids, structural sugars, minerals and vitamins, day after day.
That is where this formula puts its focus. Phosphatidylcholine accounts for the largest share of the phospholipids in intestinal mucus, and here it comes standardised from soya lecithin. Phytodroitin® supplies glycosaminoglycans, the long chains of sugar acids that make up chondroitin and hyaluronic acid, from a plant source. Around these two sit four micronutrients with authorised EU claims. Biotin contributes to the maintenance of normal mucous membranes and normal skin, zinc and vitamin C cover the immune system and collagen formation, and vitamin B12 has a role in the process of cell division. Chamomile and spirulina complete the blend.
Paracel is the practitioner line of Espara GmbH in Salzburg, Austria, formulated for doctors, naturopaths and therapists rather than for supermarket shelves. The phrase "or as directed" in the intake advice is a small clue to that background. Phytodroitin® itself is registered with the Vegan Society, and the capsule shell, the B12 (methylcobalamin) and every other ingredient are free from animal-derived material.
Take 2 capsules once daily before breakfast with liquid (or as directed).

How can a seaweed extract be a "chondroitin equivalent"?
Chondroitin sulphate is a glycosaminoglycan: a repeating chain of glucuronic acid and an amino sugar, found in cartilage and connective tissue and normally extracted from bovine or shark cartilage. ProTec Nutra analysed that structure and matched it with polysaccharides from two seaweeds. Sea lettuce (Ulva lactuca) and bladderwrack (Fucus vesiculosus) both contain sulphated, glucuronic-acid-rich chains, and sodium hyaluronate adds a second glycosaminoglycan produced by fermentation. The result is water-soluble, of UK origin and free from animal tissue, which is why it can sit in a vegan formula without an asterisk.

💬 Frequently asked questions
-
Does it contain soya? I have to avoid it.+Yes. The phosphatidylcholine is produced from soya lecithin, so soya is declared as an allergen on the pack. If you need to avoid soya, this product is not for you. Gluten, lactose and fructose are a different matter: the formula is gluten-free, lactose-free and fructose-free.
-
Can I take it alongside a probiotic or L-glutamine?+The three cover different ground: a probiotic brings live bacteria, glutamine is a single amino acid, and Mucosa Komplex supplies phospholipids, glycosaminoglycans, zinc and vitamins. There is no overlap in ingredients. Whether and how you combine them is a question for the practitioner who recommended the product. That is what "or as directed" in the intake advice refers to.
-
Why before breakfast rather than with a meal?+The recommendation is 2 capsules once a day before breakfast, with liquid. Taken this way, the contents reach the digestive tract ahead of the first meal of the day. If a doctor or therapist has given you a different schedule, follow that instead.
-
Is 200% NRV of biotin and B12 a lot?+100 µg of biotin and 5 µg of vitamin B12 are twice the EU reference value but well within the ranges commonly used in food supplements. Both are water-soluble B vitamins. The B12 is methylcobalamin, one of the two forms that act directly as a coenzyme in the body, and it contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose of 2 capsules.
-
What do the 80 capsules work out to per day?+At 2 capsules a day, one jar covers 40 days. For a course of several months as directed by your practitioner, plan on two or three jars.

-
How do I take the capsules?+One capsule twice a day, each time half an hour before meals, with plenty of liquid. Do not exceed the daily dose of two capsules.
-
How long does one tin last?+One tin holds 100 capsules. At two capsules a day, that lasts for 50 days.
-
Are the capsules vegan and suitable for allergy-conscious users?+The product is vegan, lactose-free, gluten-free and fructose-free. The capsule shell is made from plant-based hydroxypropyl methylcellulose. If you have known intolerances, still check the full ingredient list first.
-
Does it contain turmeric – and in what form?+Yes, as a turmeric root extract granulate at a 50–60:1 ratio. Two capsules provide at least 38 mg of curcuminoids, of which at least 28 mg is curcumin.
-
Who is the complex intended for?+For adults who want to bring classic bitter plants into their everyday routine – bundled instead of one by one. If you have questions about your personal use, speak with a practitioner you trust.
