The balm relies on menthol and camphor for that familiar cool, fresh sensation. Add to that natural extracts of arnica, rosemary and horse chestnut, plus a moisturising factor that keeps stressed skin supple. Once applied, the texture absorbs quickly and leaves no greasy film.
The name goes back to its origins – the formula was first intended to care for hard-worked horses' legs. Hikers and athletes long ago discovered it for their own skin. The balm is made by Kräuterhaus Sanct Bernhard, which has produced natural cosmetics and herbal products in-house since 1903.

Why does Horse Balm feel cool on the skin?
The fresh sensation comes from menthol and camphor. They activate the skin's cold receptors, creating a pleasantly cooling impression – a little like the feeling after a sip of peppermint tea. The effect is purely sensory and fades again after a short while. The natural mint and rosemary oil reinforces that fresh impression.
