The Hati-Hati Angel Love stands 25 cm tall, the largest figure in the series, hand-carved from suar wood in Indonesia and made to hold its own on a sideboard rather than hide on a shelf.

Dark heartwood, pale edge
Suar comes from the rain tree (Samanea saman). Its heartwood is deep brown, the outer wood almost cream, and the carvers work with that contrast on purpose so the angel stands out from the grain.

Nearly the height of a wine bottle, light enough to wrap and post without fuss. A present that looks generous without weighing down the parcel.

Where does a 25 cm angel look best?+
Somewhere with a bit of space around it: a clear chest of drawers, a windowsill, a sideboard next to a vase. Crammed onto a full bookshelf, even a larger figure disappears. Light from the side, such as a window, brings out the grain far better than a ceiling lamp directly above.

Can it go outside on a balcony or in the garden?+
No. The wood is polished and painted but not treated against rain, frost or constant sun. Outdoors the paint would flake and the wood could crack. Keep it indoors.

Will it suit a modern, minimal interior?+
Usually, yes. The form is simple, the colours are natural wood tones with hand-painted details, and there is nothing glossy or ornate about it. It sits as comfortably next to light oak and white walls as it does in a more rustic room.

How does it compare with the 15 cm Peace angel?+
It is 10 cm taller (about two thirds more) and around 50 g heavier. The Peace angel suits a bedside table or desk; the Love angel a spot you see from across the room. Side by side, they read as a pair, with the tall one at the back.
