MCT oil stands for "medium-chain triglycerides", which means medium-chain triglycerides or medium-chain fatty acids. The highest concentration of MCT's can be found in coconut fat and then in palm kernel oil. Triglycerides consist of a glycerol molecule and three fatty acids. In the human organism, the triglycerides are split. Thus, the glycerol is passed on to the blood and the fatty acids are sent to another degradation cycle. The fatty acids mentioned are made up of different numbers of carbon atoms, which are lined up in a chain. A total of 3 fatty acid groups are distinguished based on the length of their carbon chains. These would be the short, medium and long chain fatty acids. The short-chain fatty acids have 1-5 carbon atoms, the medium-chain 6-12 carbon atoms and the long-chain 13-21 carbon atoms. Due to the length of the carbon chain, the MCT's have a much higher activity than the long chain fatty acids. The MCT's are utilized by the human organism particularly quickly and in just a few metabolic processes. The other fatty acids must first be emulsified by the bile acids and then broken down in order to be absorbed by the body. This tedious step is omitted with the MCT's. They end up in the liver relatively quickly after ingestion. Once there, they are converted to energy in the mitochondria in the form of ketone bodies. The ketone bodies then enter the bloodstream and circulate throughout the body.

Our organic MCT oil is 100% obtained from fresh organic coconuts using carefully selected criteria. Only thermal and mechanical processes are used for extraction. As a result, we guarantee an MCT oil with the highest bioavailability, which consists of purely natural fatty acids. Our organic MCT oil contains only the two most relevant fatty acids: 60% caprylic acid C8 and 40% capric acid C10.

Why caprylic acid C8 and capric acid C10 are the most relevant medium-chain fatty acids:
The caprylic acid C8 consists of 8 carbon atoms, which are converted to ketone bodies particularly quickly. The resulting ketone bodies are much more efficient than glucose, which is normally the main fuel in the human body. However, the ketone bodies bring many times more energy with them, and less oxygen is consumed during the conversion. The nerve cells in particular can utilize the energy from the fats particularly well.

The capric acid C10 consists of 10 carbon atoms, which is metabolized more slowly than C8 but has a particularly positive effect. The effect lasts significantly longer. In addition, C10 promotes the metabolism of fats and ketosis.Application
