Question about item
Stay strong through long sessions – without fading at the end
Aktiv3 Isotone Energy Drink Blood Orange is a powder for making a carbohydrate-electrolyte drink. One sachet in 500 ml of water – and your sports drink for the exercise phase is ready, with a fruity blood orange taste.
A long ride, a long run, a match over the full distance: after the first hour you notice your legs getting heavier and your mouth drying out. With sweat you lose not only water but also salts – and your energy reserves drop.
That is exactly where the drink comes in. The carbohydrates from maltodextrin, sucrose and isomaltulose supply glucose as fuel. Sodium chloride, potassium citrate, calcium lactate and trimagnesium citrate replace electrolytes lost through sweat. "Isotonic" means the concentration of dissolved particles is close to that of blood – so the body can take up fluid quickly.
Behind the product stands Kräuterhaus Sanct Bernhard, which has made specialities straight from the manufacturer in Germany since 1903. Its sports range has been used in training and competition for years – and blood orange is one of the most popular flavours.
Dissolve 1 sachet (36 g) in 500 ml of water. To avoid clumping, pour in the water first and then add the powder. During the exercise phase we recommend drinking 150–200 ml regularly every 15–20 minutes.

What does "isotonic" actually mean?
Isotonic describes a solution whose concentration of dissolved particles is close to that of blood plasma. Drinks in this range pass through the stomach quickly, and the body can take up fluid and dissolved substances rapidly. For long, sweaty sessions that is more practical than plain water, because carbohydrates and salts come along at the same time.
Prefer the large tub – and which flavours are there?
If you train regularly, the 900 g tub of blood orange is the better-value choice – it makes around 12.5 litres of ready-to-drink beverage and can be dosed portion by portion. Looking for a different flavour? You will find an overview of all Isotone Energy Drink flavours here.
