Question about item
Washing your hands ten times a day shouldn't leave them tight and dry
Herbamedicus Hand Soap Lavender & Hop cleanses mildly and gently – made for hands that see plenty of water and soap every day.
The kitchen sink, garden soil, public transport, the changing table – some days your hands end up under the tap more often than you can count. Reach for a harsh soap and you'll know it soon enough: rough, tight-feeling skin.
This hand soap treats cleansing and skin care as one job. A mild surfactant base lifts dirt and grease, while caring ingredients in the formula keep washing from feeling like a chore – even the fifth time that day. And the scent turns a routine task into a short pause at the basin.
Behind Herbamedicus stands SCHMEES GmbH from Twistringen in Lower Saxony, a cosmetics manufacturer with its own production and a broad range of care and hygiene products. The brand builds its formulas around botanical ingredients – in this soap, two classics of traditional plant lore.

Why does pH matter when washing your hands?
Skin is naturally slightly acidic – its protective acid mantle sits at around pH 5. Traditional bar soaps, by contrast, work in the alkaline range and can unbalance that protective film with every wash. A formula aligned with the skin's own value therefore washes noticeably more mildly. With many washes a day, that difference adds up.
What is hop doing in skin care?
Most people know hops from brewing – yet the cones of this climbing plant have a long tradition in cosmetics too. They contain flavonoids and bitter compounds, among other constituents. Hop extract has therefore long been used in skin and hair care, particularly in formulas for stressed skin. In this soap it adds a herbal, green counterpoint to the lavender.
💬 Frequently asked questions
-
Is it comfortable for frequent hand washing?+Yes – that's what it's made for. The formula is designed for daily, repeated washing and includes glycerin and allantoin alongside the mild surfactant base – two ingredients widely used in cosmetics for stressed skin.
-
What does Lavender & Hop smell like?+The soothing scent of the lavender oil leads – floral, but not sweet. The hop adds a subtle herbal, green note. Overall it smells more of herb garden than perfume counter.
-
Is this certified natural cosmetics?+No. The soap is made with components from nature – including the lavender oil and hop extract – but carries no natural-cosmetics seal such as COSMOS or NATRUE. If you're after a fully certified natural formula, this is an honest blend of a proven cosmetic base and botanical ingredients.
-
Does the bottle come with a pump dispenser?+Yes. The 500 ml bottle comes with a pump top, ready to stand by the basin – in the bathroom, kitchen or guest WC.
-
Do sulfate surfactants dry out the skin?+Sodium laureth sulfate is a well-established cleansing surfactant, and here it doesn't work alone: cocamidopropyl betaine, a particularly mild coconut-based co-surfactant, softens the cleansing action. What matters is always the overall formula – and this one is deliberately tuned for mildness.
