Why does pH matter when washing your hands?
Skin is naturally slightly acidic – its protective acid mantle sits at around pH 5. Traditional bar soaps, by contrast, work in the alkaline range and can unbalance that protective film with every wash. A formula aligned with the skin's own value therefore washes noticeably more mildly. With many washes a day, that difference adds up.
What is hop doing in skin care?
Most people know hops from brewing – yet the cones of this climbing plant have a long tradition in cosmetics too. They contain flavonoids and bitter compounds, among other constituents. Hop extract has therefore long been used in skin and hair care, particularly in formulas for stressed skin. In this soap it adds a herbal, green counterpoint to the lavender.
