Auricularia judae (Judas ears) powder

In the German-speaking world, the Auricularia vital mushroom is also known as Judas ear. This designation is based on the legend that Judas is said to have hanged himself after betraying Christ from an elder tree, on the trunk of which grew ear-like looking mushrooms. Friends of Chinese cuisine also know this edible mushroom under the name Mu-Err. In Asia it is a staple food, but it has also been known in Europe for more than 1,500 years. The hardy Auricularia fruiting body can withstand even frost and can sometimes be found under snow in winter. Its ingredients are a real treasure.
