Description

Three fruits, one tradition – part of the Ayurvedic daily routine for over 2,000 years

Triphala is not a modern invention. It is arguably the best-known recipe in the Ayurvedic home apothecary – delivered here as a handy caplet from Himalaya, an Indian family-owned company since 1930.

🌿
Three fruits, three doshas
Amalaki (Pitta), Bibhitaki (Kapha) and Haritaki (Vata) – the three components of the classical Triphala blend.
One caplet a day
688 mg of Triphala composition per day. One pack lasts two months – a light dose, easy to fit into daily life.
🔬
Standardised tannin content
5% tannins in the chebulic myrobalan powder and 50% tannins in the Triphala dry extract – consistent quality, batch after batch.
🌱
EU organic certified
Certified according to EC 834/07 and EC 889/08 by BIOAGRICERT. From certified organic wild collection and organic cultivation in India (non-EU agriculture).

Anyone who looks into Ayurveda sooner or later encounters the term Triphala. Translated literally, the word means "three fruits" – and that is exactly what the product is: dried Amalaki, Bibhitaki and Haritaki in the classical ratio. What was once prepared as a powder or decoction is now a pressed caplet. One meal, one caplet, a glass of water.

The blend has two parts: an organic powder from the leaf of the chebulic myrobalan (Haritaki) and an organic dry extract from the three Triphala fruits. Both supply tannins – plant polyphenols that occur naturally in the fruits. The two concentrations (5% in the powder, 50% in the extract) are standardised in the caplet, so the daily dose stays reliably the same.

Behind the product stands Himalaya Wellness – an Indian family-owned company that has been turning Ayurvedic recipes into modern products since 1930. The herbs are grown in India; the EU organic certification runs via BIOAGRICERT. So the product comes from the home of Ayurveda – and still meets European quality standards.

What lies behind the three fruits?

In the classical Ayurvedic literature – Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita – Triphala is described as a rasayana – a classical term in Ayurvedic literature for foundational, everyday formulations. Each of the three fruits is linked to one of the three doshas. Amalaki is traditionally seen as cooling and connected with Pitta. Bibhitaki is described as drying and Kapha-related. Haritaki is seen as warming and Vata-related. The combination in the classical ratio has been handed down for more than two thousand years.

Why a caplet rather than a powder?

Classically, Triphala is taken as churna (powder) – often stirred into honey or warm water. The taste is unusual: bitter, astringent, drying. Anyone who wants to keep the daily routine without the taste hurdle reaches for the pressed caplet. The amount of herbs is standardised, taking it is a two-second exercise – one caplet with a meal, done.

⚠️ Mandatory information: As with any food supplement: consult a healthcare practitioner before use if you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication, have a medical condition or are planning any medical procedure. 💬 Frequently asked questions

  • How do I take the Triphala caplets correctly?+
Adults take one caplet per day with a meal and a glass of water. In Ayurvedic practice Triphala is often taken with an evening meal – but that is a matter of preference. For an individual recommendation, speak to an Ayurvedic practitioner.
  • What is the difference between caplet, capsule and powder?+
Classical Triphala churna (powder) is mixed into water or honey – the taste is bitter and astringent. Capsules wrap the powder so the taste stays out of the way. The Himalaya caplet is a pressed tablet – like a capsule it is taste-neutral, but without a separate capsule shell, and with a standardised tannin content from powder plus dry extract.
  • Is the product genuinely organic?+
Yes. The Triphala caplets are certified to EU organic regulations EC 834/07 and EC 889/08 by BIOAGRICERT (Reg. No. V401). The raw material comes from certified organic wild collection or certified organic cultivation in India. You will find the EU organic logo, the control body code IN-BIO-132 and the origin statement "non-EU agriculture" on the packaging.
  • Is Triphala vegan and gluten-free?+
Yes. The caplets are vegan-friendly, gluten-free and contain no wheat, corn, soy or dairy. No ingredients of animal origin. Manufactured in a cGMP-certified facility.
  • Who is behind the Himalaya brand?+
Himalaya Wellness is an Indian family-owned company based in Bengaluru, founded in 1930. The company researches and produces plant-based recipes rooted in the Ayurvedic tradition. The trade mark owner is Himalaya Global Holdings Ltd., the licensed user is Himalaya Wellness Company. The EU distribution runs via SIA Himalaya Wellness Latvia in Riga.
  • Which other Himalaya products go well with this?+

Verdauungsprobleme
