Why natural astaxanthin differs from the synthetic form
Astaxanthin comes from three sources: synthetic from the laboratory, biotechnological from a yeast, and natural from the microalga. The three forms are not chemically identical – they differ in the spatial arrangement of the molecules (stereoisomers) and in the accompanying matrix of carotenoids and fatty acids.
